I saw several post about using +P ammunition, so I'm assuming it is ok in the XDS .45. How about +P+?

Yes. Just don't shoot an excess amount of +p+. Example: no more than 50 in one sitting.

No such thing as .45 +P+.

If some fly-by-night ammo company claims they are making it, the rounds are either A: no hotter than +P; or B: dangerously over pressure.

Either way, avoid like the plague.

Smith & Wesson states, on pg .11 para.4 of the M&P owners manual, that +p+ ammunition must not be used in S&W weapons as this designation indicates that it exceeds established industry standards and does not represent defined pressure limits.

I would assume that most all plastic frame handguns would not handle the pressure and you would likely want a fully supported chamber.

The fact is, most +P+ from major companies (Winchester, Federal, et al) is actually just loaded to the top end of +P.

I've run +P+ loads through Glocks and M&P's with no issues; but I don't make a habit of it, either.

I am sorry for giving wrong information.. I am used to 9mm. I have trouble finding any p rounds where I live anyways.

Don't need +P in a 230gr. ,45.Its a good slow moving heavy bullet to get the job done. When you get into the 185gr .45 sometimes it can use a little more speed to fully open up a hollow point on a defense round to get the maximum expansion. They use +P alot in a 9mm basically for the same thing..45 was never designed to shoot hollow points nor was the 9mm.I would not even consider a 9mm with rd ball for self defense. But a good 230gr. .45 round ball I would have no problem with. One other thing to look at is in the .45 with a short barrel your really not giving up much velocity to get the job done either. But the 9 just needs a little more speed for maximum penetration and to insure proper expansion of the hollow point.Hope this makes sense. Its free.

Most of my pistol manufacturers say to stay away from +P+ so I never buy any for the different calibers I have, but all the info her was very helpful. Thanks.
