I have had my XDSC40 for 7 years. Over 10,000 rounds with countless premature slide locks. No other issues, just the slide locking. I have read everything I could on it. To include this site, Premature Slide Lock with the XD-40 Causes Possible Cure . I finally sent it in after I came to find my locking block is now cracked. Waiting to hear anything on it.

So that brings me to my title. I have gone to the store after seeing the ads online and held one. I do like the feel compared to my old one, fits my hand even better. I wanted to see if anyone here has had any premature slide lock issues with a Mod 2 in .40 S&W.

Also, I wanted to see if anyone would be willing to measure a Mod 2 Slide lock. My old one measured about .175 from edge to edge(part that rides the grip to the part that contacts the magazine follower).

Thanks.

I very much LIKE the looks of the Mod. 2 and think it's a good move by Springfield. The primary reason I'm not an XD owner was not addressed in my view, though; no optional thumb safety. I really honestly believe that the 4" .45 model with the thumb safety is the modern high-cap poly version of Browning's 1911 design, since it includes that option. If he saw the need for one back in the day, it's puzzling to me why Glock and XD think they are smarter than he was and can leave it off. It's something that you could use or not, too, which isn't really possible on the 1911, so why all the hostility towards those of us who would prefer to have it? I think new owners NEED it, personally, because many don't train like they should and it's another way to help them avoid a self-shooting or a.d.
